PHAR 5370
Research Dissertation – Business & Law, Technology or Health & Life Sciences
Module Leader: Randolph Arroo
- Each student will be allocated a designated dissertation tutor in Semester 2 after choosing a research area in Semester 1. The student will be at first assigned to one of the research methods elective modules: PHAR5360 (Health & Life Sciences), COMP5231 (Technology) or PAMG5006 (Business & Law) depending on their choice of research area.
- The module will provide each student with the opportunity of conducting an independent research project in topics related to Business, Bioinformatics, Biopharmaceuticals and Molecular Toxicology but in areas linked to Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. It will build on the students’ knowledge of research methods and concepts from modules in Semesters 1 and 2. It will aim to develop skills of intellectual enquiry, time and project management, and independent study skills.
- The module will allow a student to develop a practical understanding of how techniques of research and enquiry are used to create and interpret new knowledge in pharmaceutical biotechnology, and to demonstrate the capacity for independent thought, creativity and rigour in the application of their knowledge.
- The project will provide the student the opportunity of writing a journal publication-style research dissertation.
